This is also being my question when I want to learn UI design. In this article, I will try to share what I did to learn UI design. Actually, this article was written for myself, but I think it would be better if I wrote it in medium. So here we go!

  Color is very important to learn. It plays a vital role in design and everyday life. You should learn from color psychology to how to choose and match colors. Every color sends a message. For example Red is the iconic color used for brands like Coca Cola and YouTube. The color red tends to encourage appetite hence why brands like Coca Cola use it often in their branding. YouTube likely uses the color red due to the excitement of watching videos online. For more details, you can learn it in this article and video.

  Another things you need to learn in basic UI design is typography. Typography is the style or appearance of text. You need to know about some common types of fonts such as Serif, Sans Serif, Scripts, Blackletter, All-Caps, and others. In a way, fonts have their own language and affect our design. For example, because of their classic look, Serif is a good choice for more traditional projects such as magazines and newspapers.

  In a way, this is the foundation of design. They give your work structure and make it easier to navigate. There are five basic principles that can help you transform your work and sharpen your eye for design:

In design, they’re the hook that draws the viewer in. compelling visuals can help you connect with the audience and make a strong impression before they’ve even read a single word. These software are commonly very easy to learn, because the features prepared are not too complicated like Photoshop, this software only has a few features that really focus on making UI design. This is the most important step in learning, practice. You have learned the basic UI design until you learn the tools or software and now is the time for you to practice. How can we practice? There are several ways that are often used:

Don’t forget to explore your design taste. Because the design trends are changing so fast, we need to continue to practice our design tastes by seeing a lot of references about modern and fresh designs. You can try to look the designs on Dribbble. Because there are so many references we can use to learn. You can enter keywords that match what you are looking for, and you can analyze the designs that are there, starting from the use of color, font size, images and shadows.
